Abundant life

Dr Thomasina Craster

Dr Thomasina Craster has 10 years of experience as a chiropractor and has run her own practice for eight years.

She trained for five years at the University of Glamorgan, Wales, and graduated in 1995 as a fully qualified traditional chiropractor and doctor of chiropractic.

She is registered with the General Chiropractic Council and a member of the United Chiropractic Association.

But she is also certified to practice a revolutionary technique called Network Spinal Analysis and its closely related system of Somato Respiratory Integration (SRI) breathing exercises.

She has been taught by the founder himself – Dr Donald Epstein - and has attained the highest qualification in this technique.

Dr Craster first came across NSA at the age of 14, when the treatment helped prevent and treat her injuries as a dancer. She later took seminars in the subject whilst training at university.

After winning a scholarship at the age of 16, she trained to be a professional dancer at Body Work Company Dance Studios in her home town of Cambridge for three years.

She then went on to tour the world, including the USA, Europe and Africa. She was part of the Diversity Dance Workshop, an educational performing arts company which highlighted social issues through dance. She also performed with Tumbuka Dance Company in Zimbabwe on similar social issues.

She set up her own dance company, ‘Beyond Words,’ in Johannesburg, South Africa, at the age of 23. But she cut her dance career short to return home and care for her mother after she was injured in a life threatening car crash.

It was at this time she decided to go back to college to study A Levels in physics, chemistry and biology before undertaking a degree in chiropractic. She taught yoga and dance throughout her training to support herself during her degree.

Dr Craster is also a member of the XCELS group which stands for Community, Communication, Excellence, Leadership and Service and was created by Drs Pierre Bernier of Gatineau, Quebec and Dominique Hort of Lugano, Switzerland.

The pioneering membership consists of 64 doctors from North America and Europe who are dedicated to serving their communities with passion and integrity.

Dr Thomasina also travels to Italy around three to four times a year to further hone her NSA skills.

She moved to Bath because it reminds her of Cambridge, but with nearby cliffs and mountains so she can enjoy rock climbing. She still likes to dance, but now focuses mainly on ballroom. She also enjoys yoga, meditation, making music and outdoor activities.
